Climate and Labor Sing Together

with Bonnie Lockhart
Courtyard Workshops / 1:00 - 2:00

Join us for this intersectional song swap. Popular myth has it that labor and environment have conflicting interests. But we know music and musicians bring people and ideas together beyond what we’re told is possible. In this participatory workshop, we’ll swap labor and/or environmental songs, making harmony together from these two rich musical traditions that share a passion for a better world.

Come to share a song, to sing along, or just to listen. Everyone welcome.

BONNIE’S BIO:

Singer/songwriter Bonnie Lockhart combines a love of diverse folk traditions with a gift for lyrics both witty and compassionate, and an active commitment to participatory, community-building music.

From her first recording, made over fifty years ago with the anti-war folk rock quartet, The Red Star Singers, through her touring and recording with Women’s Music groups BWMC and Swingsift, to her recordings and performances of children’s music, Bonnie shares the transformative power of communal music making. Her songs have been widely anthologized and recorded by musicians including Gary Lapow, Charlie King, Robin Flower, Betsy Rose, and Lisa Atkinson.

Bonnie continues to lead communal singing for labor, environment, peace, and many aspects of current anti-fascist resistance. She loves facilitating the solidarity we feel in singing together.
